I had attended a lengthy explaination by Dr.Molinar of BCRO US last year. Briefly I am betting his research of more than 35 years have lots of element of success and lots of potential. Go to stemcell on youtube and you may be able have a better overview instead having sceptism of others doing some goody.
Halal issue are of course beside market strategy but nevertheless there are more to this.

Do our homework before commenting base on hear say.

Hye all,
Maybe the main concern regarding halal stem cell is what are the sources of it, whether it’s from embryonic stem cell which is still in moral debate, or other stem cells which they didn’t know they can categorize it halal or not. I do hope the govt. can inform the public their policy for stem cell research, as we are still in vague about it.

I’ve done some googling. These are the clues I get.

“There are other means to acquire stem cells to use in treatment of diseases. One of which is the use of cord and placenta blood. The blood of these two sources are rich in stem cells and are currently being used to treat a wide variety of diseases . The blood can be banked privately by a family, or in some areas it can easily be donated for use to others. This option is perfectly halal for all Muslim couples who wisht to either bank or donate the unbilical and placenta blood. However with infertile couples this may not be an option for donation.

There is also the use of adult stem cells which are also being currently used and researched. For many this shows that the use of embryonic stem cells are not needed. And that since other options are available, or at least becoming available, than the one which is in a moral limbo should be left aside. The use of these adult cells for treatment would be halal in most instances. However using these cells in an blastocyst, which nullifies the rejection from the body of such cells since they are ones own cells to begin with, would raise other questions among Muslims.”

RM280mil will be spent on transfering technical know-how and build the facility. I suddenly remember the government budget to invest in biotechnology in 2008 is only RM236 million. How much does government needs to pay in this RM280mil? Government still involve in other biotechnology projects as well.

getting human stem cell by not violating humanity is science ethical, everybody’s concern, not merely islamic.

to get “halal things” done, it’s easy — dun use non-halal source! i cannot see the necessity of dumbing another RM280mil for that purpose!

beg my screaming (yes, i am screaming!), but we are having too many jokes: where was i from is a joke; where i am sitting is a joke, BioValley is a joke; angkasawan is an international joke!

not to be an angry man here, but there are too many inconvenient science projects here where we cannot see any outcome in the end of the day!

what do i think? i’m freak!

I think we deserve much better than “empty promises”. Read from the news,

“when US-based Bio-Cellular Research Organisation (BCRO) sets up operations in Janda Baik, Bentong, this year.”

they said “when” and “this year”, when is the real date? Who knows? How many ghost science projects we should pay for? BioValley was a good example after all.

I may sound pessimistically here, I wish they can prove me wrong.

“halal”? not again!!!

now i got phobia listening to gov saying wanting to do so call “indigenous” projects, they have dumb a lot of unnecessary $ in it. just recall what happened to our angkasawan.

btw, how can stem cell not halal in the 1st place? have to baca doa first is it? i really want to hear from Ibn Sina!
