I totally have no idea what this paper is talking about, but the image in this paper definitely can give you a good laugh!  Thanks Jacks of Science for posting this up.

    cyclodextrin is the ring shaped molecule. It selectively binds to different enantiomers. After the binding, the enantiomers have different chemical properties and can then be separated by analytical methods eg(GC, HPLC, etc…)
