5 Health Benefits of Green Tea

Green tea has long been praised for its numerous health benefits, including reducing the risk of cancer, helping with weight loss, lowering cholesterol, and preventing strokes. This article will cover five of the most important health benefits of green tea, which have been proven by major medical associations through repeated testing.

1. Green Tea and Antioxidants
The antioxidants found in green tea make it an excellent tool for fighting cancer and blood clots in the body. These antioxidants are called catechins, and they search for free radicals that damage DNA, leading to cancer and other ailments. Since green tea requires less processing than other kinds of tea, it retains more of its antioxidants and is therefore a more healthy choice.

2. Weight Loss
Green tea is also known for helping individuals lose weight. Studies have shown that people who drink green tea over an extended period of time are more apt to weight loss than those on diet programs or fitness regimens. Once consumed, elements in the green tea release signals to the body to increase metabolic rates naturally. For this reason, green tea is an excellent, healthy way to lose weight without having to worry about side effects.

3. Heart Health
Just like its cancer-battling qualities, green tea can also help keep the heart healthy. The same antioxidants that help fight cancer and increase metabolism can also help reduce the risk of blood clots in the heart. There is less evidence to support this claim entirely, but studies have been done that prove to be promising when it comes to green tea’s role in heart health. The antioxidants help to support blood vessels and make them more flexible, decreasing the risk of clotting and heart attacks.

4. Increased Alertness and Protecting Against Alzheimer’s
Some studies have shown that epigallocatechin-3-gallate (EGCG) found in green tea can help prevent dementia and the onset of Alzheimer’s disease. EGCG is said to help reduce nerve damage done to the brain that eventually leads to the development of Alzheimer’s. Studies done on mice have shown success with this treatment, although results in humans are limited and not conclusive yet. It is also widely believed that drinking green tea can help keep the brain alert by eliminating plaque that develops in the brain, causing damage to the nerves and leading to memory loss.

5. Type II Diabetes
Green tea is also said to help prevent the onset of Type II diabetes. Type II diabetes is often developed in individuals who cannot process glucose properly, or who cannot produce the right amount of insulin in the body. Green tea is said to help people with Type II diabetes make better use of glucose in their body, thereby preventing the onset of diabetes or limiting its effects. Green tea also regulates insulin levels in the body, reducing the need for mediations.

pet_medicine.jpgYou may think that your pets will not get any disease that affect human, but you are wrong:

(HealthDay News) — Cats can develop a feline form of Alzheimer’s disease, say U.K. and U.S. researchers who identified a protein that can build up in brain nerve cells and cause mental deterioration.

You may not care about the old folks, but most people do care for their pets. So if you are trying to pull funds out of people who don’t care for old folks, maybe you can change your slogan to “Save Your Cats from Alzheimer’s disease, Fund Us”.
