That’s why people say if a couple wants to have a baby, it’s best to do it during the woman’s fertile period; because her voice is just oh-so-sexy. According to a report in New Scientist, voices rated as most attractive belonged to women at peak fertility.

Researchers from the State University of New York at Albany taking recordings of women counting from one to 10 at four points during the menstrual cycle and then played them back to male and female students. Then they replayed the recordings at random to male and female students and asked them to rate the attractiveness of the voices. Both males and females judged the women’s voices to be most attractive if they were recorded during the peak fertility period of the menstrual cycle, and less attractive if they were recorded during non-fertile periods. 

This study suggested that sex hormones can change how the voice box works, as they put it: “More work is needed to identify the biological mechanisms that underlie these perceptual differences, but growing evidence points to the impact of hormones on the larynx as being the source of these changes”

Wow, I’m sure the researchers did not have any problems in recruiting participants. I mean, what guy wouldn’t want to hear a sexy woman’s voice, even if she’s just counting from 1 to 10, eyh?
